Today I woke up wondering, “WHAT TO Do!”
I checked my E-mail as usual and saw that I had an
E-mail from PHS. Yes that’s right the Philadelphia Horticultural Society informing that they will be having the Philadelphia Flower Show outdoors for the first time since there has ever been a flower show. I was so excited. I wanted to attend for more than just a day. With that in mind I decided to purchase two tickets so that I would be sure to enjoy just about everything that the show had to offer. As always in the past many years PFS {Philadelphia Flower Show} has always aimed to please. With their wonderful displays of flowers inside the Convention Center made the center look great. Not that it didn’t already captivate with its construction made to host the Philadelphia Car Show, Comic Con, a variety of Seminars and many other events.

The Convention Center has held PFS for many years and each time when I have logged onto PHS’s websites there are not many complaints that I have read that voiced negative feedback. I must say it again the Philadelphia Flower Show is a pleasure to attend.

When I arrived at the outdoors extravaganza I was truly amazed at how the layout was developed. PHS was given the opportunity to be hosted by FDR National Park. The Franklin D. {D stands for Delano} Roosevelt Park is a national monumental historical place where people from all over can enjoy a picnic, play a few games of basketball, play a tournament of tennis and even bring the children to swing on a swing or slide down a sliding-board. One huge park where PFS occupied a subsection, but with the many sights to see and the layout someone would think the Philadelphia Flower Show took up more space then explained.

I obtained a map that guided me through the show. PHS had PFS subsectioned into four aspects. One aspect was where an individual could shop, a second was where they held their famous flowers show competitions, the third was where seating was for eating, relaxing and making small talk with someone you may have met while maneuvering the show and the fourth aspect of the show was where one could view that special greenery that only PFS can develop.

I managed to contain my excitement as I walked the show grounds and took so many pictures that the photo storage on my cell phone became full. I partook in some libations and grabbed a bite to eat {more than once.} I made a few purchases and when It was all over for my visits as well as the show which ended on the 13th of June 2021, I made a few slide shows, videos and collages of my visits events/agenda and posted my much gratifying approval on PHS’s social media sites.

If you were unable to attend this year’s Philadelphia Flower Show Outdoor Extravaganza I recommend that the family purchase tickets for the next year’s show and from what I’ve read, heard as well as ear-hustled to {which means ease dropped in on} people would love to have it be showcased outdoors once again. If I were asked the question of whether PFS should be held outdoors from Philadelphia’s Convention Center and hosted again by the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Park I would most defiantly agree with the people - so therefore, “THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN!”

The following links are for your viewing pleasure. Do enjoy and hopefully I will see you and you will see me at the 2022 Philadelphia Flower Show.

Studying On-Line vs Off-Line

This post is not about each and every on-line educational course site on the world-wide-web. This post is about my experiences with a few educational sites and their courses. In this post I give some similarities and some contrasting of on-line course taking with off-line course taking. I will not be mentioning any on-line or off-line courses, schools, colleges, universities etc; so there will be no mentioning of what is better then the next. If this post is favorable, helpful or insightful in anyway leave a comment, like, share or even follow. With that said I have really enjoyed taking on-line courses.

The on-line courses that I have taken were educational, fun and hard-work. My most agreeable abstraction with on-line courses I decided to take is the fact that the majority of quizzes, test and exams are in an open-education/open-book form of study. My most disagreeable abstraction with on-line courses is the fact that the quizzes, test and exams can be taken several times with the highest score kept. Although, this might seem as beneficial or a good thing its actually not.

Students attending schools, colleges, universities etc; off-line don’t get to take quizzes, test and exams in an open-book form often. Students also don’t get to take a quiz, test or exam more then twice with off-line courses like those taken several times with on-line courses. Heck, when I was in college I never had an open-book test or exam except for the final grade in my Psychopathology Course. My study partners were so excited and happy. With on-line courses using open-book form allows, in my opinion, a student to learn more efficiently, it’s not condensed referencing time and space; moreover, it gives a student the chancs to contemplate about the work more. In this way, in my opinion, when contemplation is at its maximum threshold a better understanding and comprehension of the concepts, forms, structures, theories, hypothesis, assumptions, facts, perceptions, assumptions, inauthenticity, subjectivism and more of the works set in place.

On-line courses are less congested meaning that a student doesn’t have teachers, professors and others pressuring them, making haste of the assignments and complaining as a student studies. On-line courses allow for more study time; of course the student has to apply themselves just as with off-line study time, but with on-line study time it’s not fast paced, there’s no real rush and students can complete assignments in a timely manner without constantly looking at their watch, waiting impatiently for the teacher to dismiss them and/or glancing up at a clock on a wall periodically. Therefore, quizzes, test and exams, I had took gave me the opportunity to concentrate fully, reread the material and sufficiently do my best to come-up with the correct answers. If I was wrong I was given several chances to submit new answers and as with off-line courses my highest score was my grade

On-line classes and courses are also similar to off-line classes and courses in the following ways

For on-line:

  1. They are conducted from real-life Schools, Colleges, Universities; etc.
  2. They have real live Teachers. Instructors and Professors
  3. They have lectures with guest speakers and questions during
  4. They have quizzes
  5. They have study groups and forums
  6. They have test and final exams that are graded
  7. They have peer assignment grading
  8. They offer free and paid certifications, diplomas and degrees that can be added to resumes, businesses and social media profiles
  9. They offer financial-aid

Those are eight similarities that I’ve become aware of.

Some other contrasting with off-line and on-line courses I’ve become aware of are the following:

For on-line

  1. There are no Tutors or Counselors
  2. There is no direct interaction with the Teachers, Instructors or Professors
  3. There is no Campus Housing
  4. There are no Meal Plans, Lunch Rooms or Cafeterias
  5. All testing and exams are in an open-book form
  6. There are no Labs and Study Halls

For off-line

  1. There is Campus Housing
  2. There are Meal Plans, Lunch Rooms and Cafeterias
  3. There are Counselors, Tutors, and Student Guides
  4. There is direct contact with Teachers, Instructors and Professors
  5. There is rarely open-book form testing or exams
  6. There are Libraries, Labs and Study Halls

Those few similarities and contrastings I’ve come to realize about on-line and off-line courses lead me to say; for the experience, knowledge, education, fun and for the meantime take an on-line course. Whether the course is free, free (audited) with the option to upgrade which then becomes a paid course or a subscription course take one - heck take six. If the course or courses are taken with a welcoming and open mind I promise it would not be regretful if failed, but if passed I promise the feelings of happiness will be worth celebrating.

Featured Post

The year 2020 is approaching shortly and as all readers know Under The Sea has its on-line physical fitness group sessions titled "LGF!" {Let's Get Fit} every year to help maintain, loose and gain weight. In the upcoming year Under The Sea would like to give a hearty  THANKS! and show its appreciation to McDonalds for their help and support with physical fitness challenges.

There is a history with Under The Sea and McDonalds as to how Sparkaline (Sparks) obtained the physical fitness challenge VIDs that will be used for the 2020 year "LGF!" sessions. These VIDs will allow participants the opportunity to physically-move, get in shape,
tone-up and cool-down while following Under The Sea's regimens and routines. For the year 2020 there will be two "LGF!" sessions. The first will be held in the Spring and the second held in the Summer.

McDonalds has always been childrens' favorite place to eat. from the catchiness of their jump-rope tune, their tasty breakfast sandwiches, big breakfast, hot coffee - to their well put together commercials, great lunch sandwiches, milkshakes and dinner meals the
fast-food chain is also a great stop for adults.

For many years the Ronald McDonald House has been providing places for families to stay close to each other when faced with a serious exigence. The housing provided by the Ronald McDonald Foundations are provided at a low cost, allow children to receive the best health care and promote less financial weariness for parents and caregivers. Many volunteers and donations have made it possible for McDonalds, The Ronald McDonald Houses and the Ronald McDonald Foundations to journey onward into the year 2020 in good standing and in good grace to all those they provide services to.

As Under The Sea follows diligently in the carbon footprints and in the delightfullness of this surpassing excellence incorporated, corporation and fast-food chain we say, again, THANKS! it is an honor to be a part of such prosperity.

Journaling and Goal Setting

Starting October 1st. 2019 keep a diary for 1 week writing down the things in your life that you want to stay the same. Give them a goal for each month of the calendar year. For example: "I want to keep my hair cut short for the month of January." At the end of what you write give yourself a compliment about what you've written. For example: "My eyes pop with my short haircut."

The next two weeks after do anything in your diary. The third week in October wright in your diary the things in your life that you want to change. Give them a goal for each month of the calendar year.
For example: "I want to change my diet for the month of February." At the end of what you write disparage yourself about what you've written. For example: "I am terrible at maintaining a high-fiber diet."

When the first week of November begins wright nothing in your diary. The following 2 weeks after the first week in November only review the items that have been written in your diary. The 3rd and last week in November you will not write or review anything in your diary.

When the first week of December starts revise your items of change that were written only by adding more or taking them away. The following 2 weeks in December revise only the items you wrote that you would like to stay the same by adding more or placing them in your items of change. In the final week of December do nothing in your diary.

When the New Year starts in January of 2020 begin it by maintaining the things that you want to stay the same and by starting on changing the things you want to change.

This task will fill up your year and have you begin to structure what you might hold dear to your wellness and successes surrounding your life's affairs. You will repeat the process every year beginning in October.

Good Luck!
